Museum im Ritterhaus (knight house)
The Osterode and regional history museum is housed in an imposing half-timbered building from the 17th century. Ten sections on three floors show exhibitions for trade and industrial history, the pharmacy sector and the historical regional typical clothing. One room is devoted to the work of the late Gothic woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider from Osterode. In addition, an extensive collection on the geology of the Harz at the pre and early history of the region is shown. Also interesting are the regular special exhibitions on historical, artistic and scientific topics. The extensive supporting programme includes in the idyllic courtyard museum festivals, markets and events as well as lectures, concerts and educational range for children and adults.
