The Gateway to History - Collection of the Frauenstift Gandersheim
The three exhibitions of the “Portals zur Geschichte” (gateway to history) in the Gandersheim abbey, Church Brunshausen and the Summer Palace Brunshausen present authentic places to follow the footsteps of Gandersheimer Frauenstift. The family roots of the Ottonian emperors lay in Gandersheim, their memorial site. Roswitha of Gandersheim, the first German female poet, lived and worked here. Discover valuable treasures, precious drapes and fine silk fabrics of nearly a 1.000 years of history. Admire the Baroque scientific culture in the former art and natural history collection of the Abbess that can found in the Summer Palace Brunshausen.
